AI/ML Product Manager & Software Engineer

Aug 2025 - May 2026SPARK! Lab, Boston University

SPARK! is a selective lab at BU that contracts real client work to student teams. I started as a software engineer and ended up running three teams — 13 engineers total — across projects in computer vision, NLP, and RAG. Day to day that meant writing the requirements, planning the sprint, making the hard technical calls, and then sitting with the client to find out whether we actually solved the problem.

The clients were all over the place, which kept it interesting. For One Acre Fund we built a computer vision pipeline to classify crop species across thousands of farming acres. For Haynes Construction we shipped a RAG chatbot that pulled together four systems that hadn't talked to each other before, and got query accuracy up 30%. For the Boston Public Library we replaced their keyword search entirely — built a natural language interface over 200K+ items so people could actually ask questions about historical documents, images, and maps and get something useful back.
